Back to Denmark, Greetings from Odense :)

After 15 months in the Ntherlands—months that taught me more about people than engineering, became unforgettable for reasons beyond academic work, and were shaped more by lessons in resilience than professional growth—I started a new position in April as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern Denmark’s Odense campus. Among several options in different countries, it felt good to reconnect with Denmark through this opportunity. In addition, being in Odense—the city of Andersen’s fairy tales that we grew up with—adds a special excitement and brings back childhood memories of listening to those stories in a new way :)
At SDU, I’ll be working on experimental and computational studies in heat and fluid flow across a broad range of technology readiness levels. Similar to my experience in Singapore, this range—from lab-scale setups to system-level applications—offers a chance to build on what I’ve learned without being limited to narrow research niches. In this context, engineering applications of fluid mechanics and heat transfer will form the core of my research portfolio.
At the same time, I will be responsible for the Fluid Mechanics laboratory, which is well-equipped for single- and two-phase heat and fluid flow studies. This gives me the opportunity to make the best use of the current equipment in my experimental work as well as the chance to develop the laboratory with new instruments—since I believe impactful innovation is always built on reliable and repeatable experimental studies.
I’m sincerely grateful to my colleagues for their warm welcome since April and for giving me the opportunity to work across such a wide scope. Looking forward to updating this blog soon with new activities and ideas :)
